About The Designer

Jeffrey Appling was born and raised on the central coast of California in the town of Salinas.

Jeff’s fascination of rocks grew as he spent his childhood summers at the family cabin, roaming the stream-bed gravels and sorting through the sedimentary strata. While studying Geology, Mineralogy, and Crystallography in college, a watchmaker introduced Jeff to Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America.

Graduating from (GIA) as a Graduate Gemologist and Graduate Jeweler, Jeff began cutting (faceting) gemstones at a professional level and was self-taught in Photomicrography (taking pictures of the insides of gemstones).

While working at a local jewelry store he started taking rigorous coursework to become a professional Appraiser. With numerous professional degrees now behind his name and a diligent work ethic Jeff opened a small jewelry store/appraisal firm in 1994 and became one of the leading jewelry appraisers nationally. As an appraiser Jeff was able to research every type of jewelry ever made.

The appraisal years turned quickly into the design years.

With knowledge of the jewelry arts he decided to make jewelry never before created or seen. In 2004, Jeff moved to Palm Springs, opened a creative jewelry store, and lectured/taught several aspects of the jewelry arts. Southern California inspired him to grow by meeting new and interesting fellow designers, celebrities, models, rock stars, and he designed jewelry reflecting their lifestyles.

A few years later, like a magnet, Jeff was drawn back to the beauty of Monterey Bay .

2017- In December, a friend showed Jeff a video showing images of ancient stone construction and impossible machining of stone displaying carved out geometrics and a perfect internal star drill hole. Jeff knew If he could learn how to machine stone like these ancient builders, he could advance his artistic endeavors and teach what he learns.

The feeling of “I know this information” swept over him.

June 2018 Jeff bought an ultrasonic machine and made his first ultrasonic round drill hole. Tool making came next, followed by drilling perfect square, triangle, and precision star holes.

2019- In June, Jeff attended the “contact in the desert” conference in Indian Wells near his old stomping grounds of Palm Springs. Jeff handed out gifts to the researchers as a thank you for opening his eyes to ancient construction. The gifts were examples of how he made the so-called impossible star holes in stone. This was the year Jeff found ancient stone machining in California. (Future fieldtrips)

2020- Jeff closed his jewelry store in Salinas and started practicing what he calls “nature science” which includes vortices, ultrasonics, alchemy, and the inward force of cavitation.

2021- Jeff was asked to talk and share ultrasonic technology on a podcast “brothers of the serpent.”

2022- Extensive research and understanding led Jeff to change his life completely and put aside the traditional science of spinning abrasive wheels and focus more on the exciting unconventional science of Nature.

2023- A new technologically based laboratory and workshop was created in Nevada and is now home to learning and practicing ancient machining techniques. Alchemy into art and the natural power of vortices and cavitation.
