One ring to rule them all

The ring below was designed by Jeff Appling and created using America’s finest artist and industry professionals.

Video and photography by American photographer Jeff mason.

American gem artist John Dyer fashioned the center 28.04 carat Blue Topaz with his trademark cut “Dreamscape”.

Spinning abrasive tools were used to create the bubbles and curved groove designs within this Topaz. The “Swiss Blue” color of the Topaz was achieved by subjecting a colorless Topaz to radiation followed by heat treatment (annealing).

All gemstones were purchase through members of the American Gemstone Trade Association (AGTA). All members of AGTA must disclose any and all gemstone treatments and enhancements. This disclosure protects our industry from fakery and dishonest sellers both inside and outside of the United States.

(Below left) A 2.39 carat faceted oval shape Pink Tourmaline from Brazil with 2 faceted oval Blue Benitoite from California totaling .51 carats in weight.

(Above center) 3.34 carat rectangular orange Spessartite Garnet from Namibia and a small square shape Tsavorite Garnet from East Africa. (Above right) Large shield cut 1.60 carat Grossularite Tsavorite Garnet with a faceted square shape color-change purple/pink sapphire, corundum.

The fabrication of this ring was created by Mark Schneider Design. Mark has a team of professionals that can handle most of all my fabrication needs. Mark himself, in my opinion, is one of America’s greatest and most valued jewelry designers.

No prongs are used in Ultra Jewelry Design; all gemstones are framed in precious metal for cleanliness and security.

The ring is perfectly balanced so it will not flip on the finger like most rings. Instead of a wire or filigree gallery, a floating array of meandering diamonds, dancing across the underside of the designer Blue Topaz.

The random shape-colored gemstones protrude outward from the blue Topaz in tapering cones of colored gold, creating an outward explosion of color rising upward and above the center Topaz.

This ultimate ring is my last jewelry design using conventional methods. Future jewelry will be created using superior and more efficient technologies in metallurgy and ultrasonic machining.

The new technology I am using for gem and bead design was inspired by ancient star shape drill holes found here in the United States.

Once I saw the images of machined stone with geometrics, I knew jewelry design would never be the same, if I could figure out how they were made?

So, I figured it out.

The ancient star shaped drill holes found in the USA and worldwide are of ultrasonic machine drilling.  This technology was used in prehistory and is now being reintroduced through jewelry and art.

Get ready for……. Jewelry of the gods…. Made in the USA.
